Connor's First Trip to the Zoo

We took Connor to the zoo last Friday. We didn't actually get to see much of the zoo though because Connor is Mr. Independent and did not want to ride in his stroller, and did not want to be carried very much. Anyone with a curious toddler knows that when they walk, they like to take several stops to look at holes in the ground, wood chips in the landscaping, and run into other people, and anyone that has ever been to the Kansas City Zoo knows that it requires A LOT of walking. The Kansas City Zoo is very spread out.

He had a fun time though, so that is what really matters. I'm sure he will get more out of the zoo in years to come. We got to see the sea lions, elephants, monkeys, a few tigers, he got to feed the goats (his favorite part) and we took a train ride. Here are a few pictures from our trip to the zoo.

Here is a picture of Connor's latest funny face.
He makes this face whenever he is excited about something, or he will mimic Vinnie if he makes the face, he won't do it for me though. It is hilarious! We crack up every time he does it. We got it on video the other night and I will post that soon.

Fun Day!

I am on vacation this week and Connor and I are already having a blast. We went grocery shopping this morning, where Connor said hi, thank you and bye bye to the cashier and sacker. What a polite little man! Then after his nap we met Melanie and Landon at Paradise Park.

The boys had such a blast! First we played in the Water Room.

The boys were both fascinated when a little girl used the hand dryer.

Then we played in the Infant and Toddler room for awhile. There were all kinds of things for them to climb on.

Then we went grocery shopping.

Landon got to work the cash register.

Then they worked in a Pizza Parlor.

Connor likes to add red pepper to his pizza.

Then Connor went to the bank to cash his paycheck.

Then we went and played outside. They even have a playground just for the toddlers.

We had so much fun today. I didn't even realize we had this nearby. Last I heard this place was just a mini-golf park. I guess they added on to it over the last few years. Thanks Nancy for recommending that we go there. We will definitely go back, especially as Connor gets older and can enjoy some of the other rooms.

We have a fun week planned! On Thursday, Vinnie and I are going to the Royals game and we are taking Connor to the zoo on Friday. It looks like the weather is supposed to be nice too. If the rest of the week can be as nice as today was, I will be happy.

Go Royals!

The Royals on are fire! It is so much fun to watch them play these days. Vinnie and I have been watching most of the games on TV. I am excited to go to a game this year and see a good team play and see the new stadium. Connor is even a Royals fan. He wore his Royals shirt to daycare today and he looked like such a little stud!

This picture makes me laugh. It looks as though he is saying, "Don't even think of taking my Goldfish!"

He was so cute playing with his keys this morning.

Trying to pet Batta. He loves his kitty cat!
It's funny when I view the pictures after taking them, Connor loves to look at the pictures too and he will point at himself and say, "baby." It is so cute to hear him talk and say actual words. He loves to say bye bye. He'll say it any chance he gets, whether it's to a car driving off on TV, or when we turn off the lights and leave the room. Yes, he said bye bye to the bathroom tonight after he was done brushing his teeth. Too funny! When Vinnie picked him up from daycare today Connor blew kisses and waved bye bye to all his friends, so of course all the other kids waved bye bye too. I look forward to him saying more and more words. This is such a fun age!

Radio Flyer

Connor got a Radio Flyer wagon this weekend. I don't know who is more excited; us or Connor! Vinnie has been looking on Craigslist for a wagon for Connor for quite awhile, but he wanted to find a good deal of course. There was one listed for $35, so we jumped on it and picked it up on Sunday. Connor loves taking wagon rides around the yard. I was pulling him around in the wagon tonight and was able to get a few photos in. The top one is the first one I took, but then he got antsy and was ready to get moving again....
We are so excited to find a wagon for Connor and to get such a great deal. Connor loves playing outside. The next item on our list is a sandbox. I am so excited about that. I loved playing in the sandbox when I was little, it was one of my favorite outdoor activities. Here are a few more pictures that I snapped of Connor tonight. He is such a good subject!
And here is Connor's most recent funny face.

Evan and Caitlin

I wish Kristin and her family still lived close to us, because the kids had so much fun playing together while they were in town. My cousin Kristin has 2 adorable kids. Evan is 3 1/2 and Caitlin will be 2 in June. They moved to Arizona last summer because her husband Danny got a job offer there. Kristin and her family came to visit over Easter and they were here for a couple of weeks, and while we were not able to get together for Easter, Grandma had us over for dinner one night.

It was so entertaining to watch the kids play. The last time they were together, Connor was too little to really play with them, so it was like seeing them together for the first time. It was hard to get very many pictures of them together because they are constantly on the go, but I will share what I have...

Here are the kids last Easter
What a difference a year makes!

Happy Easter!

Spoiled much? In all fairness though not ALL of these presents were from us. Some of them were from the Grandparents too, but it's safe to say that Connor had a very nice Easter. He had a blast playing with all his new toys Easter morning.

Here he is repairing his chair with the tool set that Daddy got him

Coloring

Catching bubbles

Playing with playdoh

So excited!
After Connor's nap we headed out to Aunt Angie's and had a delicious dinner. Then Connor got to partake in his very first Easter egg hunt at Angie's. Easter egg hunts at Angie's are a big deal. She lives on 10 acres so they usually have a big outdoor Easter egg hunt. Unfortunately the crummy weather prevented us from having the traditional outdoor Easter egg hunt, so the moved it to the basement.

Connor kind of got the idea of hunting for Easter eggs. I'm sure he will really be into it next year!

After a fun busy day, Connor had enough Easter and was ready to go home. I think he was asleep before we even got out of Angie's driveway!

Chips!

I was telling the girls a cute story about Connor the other day and Carolyn said I should share it on my blog, so here you go Carolyn.

So Connor has tried a few chips here and there, and of course he loves them. The other day I was letting him play in the pantry while I was fixing dinner. He grabbed a bag of chips, not knowing what it was until he actually opened the bag. When he got the bag opened though he got so excited and let out a squeal of delight and yelled "Chips!" with a huge smile on his face. It was a wonderful discovery for him and it was so cute that I had to let him have a chip. Plus, he said the word chips! A new word is always exciting!
