A new blog, a new recipe

I like blogs and I like trying new recipes, so when I came across this blog, you can imagine how excited I was. There are so many enticing recipes on there, even ones that I feel confident that I can make, and have the time to make. Tonight we tried the spicy honey chicken, and it was delicious! It's definitely a keeper!

While we made dinner, Connor watered the yard.

Yep, we are back to wearing winter coats today. Told you our weather is fickle. After sweating in our sleep a few nights ago, I decided that Connor needed some new spring/summer pajamas. He's outgrown most of the ones from last year, so we headed to Kohl's and he must have been in a Toy Story mood that day because he chose 2 pajama sets that were both Toy Story. One set came with Buzz and Woody pajamas that look more like costumes. Here he is sporting the Woody ones.
Tonight we are back to wearing long sleeved fleece pajamas though. Everyone stay warm and cozy tonight. Good night!

Hello Spring

Wasn't it just a week ago that I had to clear snow off my car, before leaving for my Monday drive? Today we were blessed with a beautiful, sunny, 80 degree day. Sure beats last years first day of spring, when it snowed several inches. Missouri's weather can be so unpredictable. This is my favorite kind of weather. Spring and fall are by far my favorite seasons. I don't enjoy the extremes we get during winter and summer. Yesterday was a gorgeous day too, and we took full advantage of it. If we were home, we were outside. Connor got to play outside all day yesterday, and he even got to skip his nap. You can imagine how hard it was to wake him up this morning. He was definitely feeling the effects of playing hard with no nap. I'm sure if you ask him though, it was worth it. Here are a few cute videos that I shot yesterday.

I'm having trouble uploading them directly to my blog, so here are the links:

Connor's First Camping Trip

Another great idea from No time for Flashcards; this one was a craft and pretend play all rolled into one. We crafted our own campfire from a wrapping paper roll and some tissue paper.

Connor also played rocket with our craft

Connor packed the snacks. It's no surprise he picked Goldfish.

Bedtime Story

Bedtime reading has been pretty entertaining the past few nights. We've been reading, Scooby Doo: The Case of the Missing Scooby Snacks. In the book, the gang is touring the Scooby Snack Factory and Scooby Snacks keep disappearing. On each page, Connor gets to count the Scooby Snacks. He's been wearing these cool sunglasses while we read.

He flips them down while I am reading, then flips them up to count. It's the cutest thing ever! He cracks me up. I hope to get it on video, but that would require Vinnie to be home from work early enough and Connor to allow us to tape him. I hope we can be successful, because it's so cute!

Picky

I have the world's pickiest kid. When he was younger, he ate a few fruits and vegetables. He liked green beans, peas, sweet potatoes, apple sauce and bananas. He LOVED bananas. He would have ate them for breakfast, lunch and dinner if we had let him. But my picky kid has turned even pickier over that past year and a half.

One thing that he continued to like was applesauce. Until about 3 weeks ago when he decided he doesn't like applesauce. I thought, oh great now my kid doesn't eat any fruits or vegetables, unless you count ketchup.

I was fixing dinner tonight, and Connor came into the kitchen and said he wanted applesauce. I promptly got some out, before he could change his mind and he got up in his chair and started scarfing it down. I was doing a little victory dance in the kitchen while he was eating. When he was done with his applesauce, he asked for another cup. Yay! He likes applesauce again!

He was also very complimentary of the dinner I made. "This is good macaroni mom." and "Yummy fish sticks mom."

So I said, " Well if I'm such a good cook, maybe you should try your broccoli. Maybe you'll like it too."

To which he gave me the stink eye. Here's to hoping that he'll come around on the broccoli someday.

Mama Snowman

Connor built his first snowman yesterday. He named him Frosty, but also called it Mama Snowman. I guess because he is wearing my scarf. He said he wants to build a Daddy Snowman and a Connor Snowman too. I don't think we will be making it outside to play in the snow today though. It's only 18 degrees out right now. Yesterday it was a balmy 35, which it why we made it out to play in the snow.

Connor's House

What's better than a new car seat? The box it came in of course! I ordered a new car seat last week, because I got a great deal on a Britax, which is the Cadillac of car seats. I've wanted to replace the car seat in Vinnie's car for a while, because the straps twist all the time and it's really hard to tighten the straps. I just didn't feel like it was very safe, so I was delighted when I found such a great deal on a Britax, which is one of the safest car seats out there.

Ok, I'm done boring you with car seat talk. Onto the more exciting part of this post. The box, or "Connor's house" as he likes to call it. No sooner than I had the car seat out of the box, Connor was inside the box. Then he scurried off to his room, and returned with his Buzz blanket, then back to his room, and returned with is pillow. Each time he ran to his room, he came back with something new to furnish his house.

Here is the exterior of the home
